“The humapear is the first of several humafruit currently in development” said Monsteranto spokesperson Dr. Gene Collider.  “With its unprecedented nutrient profile and ease of production, we believe humafruit may hold the key to solving the problem of world hunger.”

The humapear can even wash itself, if placed near a water source and given proper instructions -- a convenience that has proven to be very popular among consumers.  

“I like to pretend the humapear is my boss before I cut it up,” said one consumer we interviewed, “it’s a great stress reliever after a hard day at work.”  Other popular pre-consumption personifications of the unusual fruit include mothers, teenage children, and ex-spouses.
     
Not all consumer reaction has been as enthusiastic.  “It’s a little odd,” said one young mother, “it’s not like other GM foods, where I can’t tell it’s part fish or virus or salamander.  But it tastes great, keeps well and the kids absolutely love it, so I’ll be including it as part of my family’s healthy diet.”
